Hotel Colonial (Adult Only)

There were four of us, and an older hotel employee kicked us out, saying no more than two people could stay in the room. The man at reception didn't offer us the option of paying extra or moving to separate rooms. We were forced out so rudely and dismissively that we left embarrassed, and our privacy was exposed in front of other guests. I don't recommend it.

The service was the best part of my stay. The doormen were always polite and attentive, and every woman working at reception was wonderful, kind, and quick to help whenever we called. Our room was kept clean, tidy, and fresh-smelling. I stayed during Carnival 2025, from February 27 to March 5. The location is good, about a five-minute walk to the entrances to Olinda's slopes, up Rua 15 de Novembro, and then to city hall. I think it could feel dangerous when the streets are quiet: on the 27th, at the start of Carnival, we went out at night and saw very little activity and some people who seemed suspicious, including people who appeared drunk or on drugs. The weekend before Carnival and Carnival itself were very different, with lots of people out and enough of a crowd to go out at any time. It was also very noisy, which made resting difficult, though the noise was all along the street. There's a fire station right next door, and they were a big help.

I want to share how unhappy I am with hotel colonial, especially with the employee CRISTINA. I went there on 10/12/22, but the neighborhood lost power. I spent less than an hour at the property and left because the room had become stuffy and hot. They still charged me the full daily rate. CRISTINA didn't come over to speak with us. She shouted from the balcony window and mocked us, then refused to work out a prorated amount. I paid R$40, and, with complete disregard, crista slammed the balcony window without explaining anything. I contacted the hotel administration, and they offered me a complimentary stay. I wouldn't go back even for free. Terrible service!

I stayed for every day of Carnival, and the place turned out to be a great surprise. The team was very attentive. There was air conditioning, daily cleaning, and room service throughout the day. You could even order a hamburger in the middle of the night.
