I went twice, in June 2015 and 2017, because I loved the homely feeling and the breakfast. It’s a peaceful place, though hard to find. Both times, the bedroom I’d booked and paid for was no longer available when I arrived. She simply rearranged people between rooms as she wanted and put closed groups in my room instead. That’s the only room with a bedroom inside, and I only found out about the change on arrival each time.

The owner was very friendly, even making popcorn for us, and breakfast was generous and tasty. This little hostel can be tricky to find, but it’s worth it once you do. There could be a bit more hot water, though it’s a small, low-key and charming place.

It was very clean and welcoming. There weren’t many people staying the night I was there, which made it quiet and relaxing. The woman at reception was pleasant, gave me advice, and answered my questions. Breakfast was good, with fresh pastries and requeijao. The location was fine, too.

I love the vibe here. Whenever I stay, the guests are in good spirits, probably helped along by the staff, who are travelers themselves and sometimes join guests on free trips to nearby waterfalls and places like that. Breakfast is included. The location is really nice, between the city center and one of the best-known bars in town, 'Bar Barroco'. WiFi is fast enough, and there’s a computer everyone can use for free. :)

I had a very bad experience, even though I never actually stayed at this hostel. They confirmed a reservation for check-in that same day, but when I arrived at the agreed time, the place was closed and I couldn’t get in. When I went to ask what had happened the next day, I got some very nasty criticism and was told to leave the premises. They offered to refund my deposit but never followed through.
