I’m completely sorry I chose this place. I’d read the negative reviews, doubted them, and took a chance. Don’t make the same mistake. The staff were friendly, which was the one real positive. The rest was extremely disappointing. We arrived Monday and left Friday, and the pool was disgusting the whole time. They said something needed fixing, but nothing was done during our four days there. The TV didn’t work for three of our four days, and when it did, it only had basic channels like Globo, SBT, and Band. The pillow was so bad I’d have been better off bringing a brick from home. A shower running meant you couldn’t sleep. Some pipe by the bed made an impossible amount of noise, and the walls were so thin we could hear people talking in other rooms. Breakfast was just sliced bread, ham, cheese, one or two fruits, and sometimes a bad pão de queijo. It’s not close enough to walk to the historic center. You need a car, especially since the streets are dark and didn’t feel safe to walk. There’s only one parking spot inside, so cars stay on the street overnight, and sometimes another car gets parked behind yours and you have to ask for it to be moved. I was charged half a day for checking out 40 minutes late, even after explaining all these problems. It feels like the owner just wants tourist money, and the place clearly needs investment and improvements. Don’t choose it just to save 50 reais a night. Pick somewhere a little better.

The staff were all helpful, sharing tips and information about town, and the breakfast had lots of variety and was well organized. It would have helped to start breakfast a little earlier so we could head out on our tours sooner. The accommodations were cozy and had everything we needed. The pool is large, though it was a little dirty on the day we used it. There are only a few spaces inside the inn, but a night watchman looks after the cars parked outside. My stay was very satisfying, especially for a price that was low compared with others in town.

This is a tiny, charming and welcoming place, probably around 14 rooms. The staff were polite and attentive, and the rooms and shared areas were clean. Room size was fine, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. The shower took about two minutes to heat up, then had very good pressure. There’s no hair dryer in the room, but you can ask reception for one. The minibar has water and soft drinks for an extra charge. Best of all, there were no mosquitoes. Breakfast is simple but does the job: cold cuts, French bread, sliced bread, cheese bread, three kinds of fruit, yogurt, coffee, milk, fresh orange juice, two types of filled milk bread, and cake. It’s a shame to read so many complaints from people expecting five star service for a R$ 275,00 nightly rate. Two people sleeping, showering, running the air conditioning all night, and having breakfast all come with real costs. We all know what things cost in Brazil.

Total disappointment. If they want to grow the business, they need to be transparent and let people know the truth. This inn needs a lot of improvement. The bathroom door stuck and made an awful noise, and the shower had nowhere to put soap because the holder was loose, so everything ended up on the floor. There was no room cleaning on December 25 because it was a holiday, even though Paraty gets visitors during holidays. Only one car fits inside, with the rest parked outside. The pool is like a bathtub. When we arrived, a family was barbecuing right outside our room, and the smoke smell came in.

The location is easy to reach, on a paved road, and close to the center and historic area, which you can walk to. Magno at reception was especially helpful and polite. Although I booked directly at the inn, he gave me the discounted Booking price. I stayed four days and felt very welcome. The room was comfortable, and they have suites on the ground floor and upstairs. Breakfast is simple but tasty, with bread, cold cuts, and fruit. We had no noise problems, and there’s parking plus security for cars left on the street.
