We had booked three nights, but left after just one and had to find another hotel. On our second day, the manager said we couldn’t leave our dogs alone in the room while we went out. We had traveled with them through more than 5 countries and stayed at 20+ hotels and home stays, and had never encountered that rule. Our mother had an accident and was hospitalized for 2 days while we were in Paraty. The manager knew about it, and we couldn’t take the dogs to the hospital. The app listing said pets were accepted FOR FREE. The manager didn’t seem pleased when we arrived with our 2 small dogs, but let us stay and charged an extra R$200. We paid to avoid a problem. After we checked out, she wouldn’t refund either the unused nights or the dog fee. As foreigners, we’d found people in Brazil very empathetic and hospitable, and it felt nothing like that here. There were lots of rules, but little care or responsibility for the services described in the app. It was an unpleasant stay, and I’d suggest avoiding this hotel.

You really feel surrounded by nature here, and every detail seems to have been handled with care. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, with local products. Miss Leila’s handmade sausages were so good I left my heart in the kitchen. She’s surely the best cook in the region.
We felt right at home. The hosts were great, the place was beautiful, and breakfast was delicious.
A nice spot for a weekend away, and the prices are good.
Paraty is a special city, with lovely houses.
