Pousada Recanto Verde

Nice.

The location was the only real plus. There could have been a lot to like here, but the service fell short. Staff seemed annoyed when we asked for things, and often didn’t do what we asked; only two people were friendly. Our room was bright and noisy, the air conditioner was loud, the fridge was dirty and gave shocks, the fan didn’t work, and the sheets were old. We asked for the room to be cleaned and it wasn’t. The stairs were wet and dark, with a dirty floor and handrail. The toilet didn’t work, and the bathroom smelled strongly of sewage. We couldn’t use the pool because of the water color and broken chairs. Breakfast was cold and looked old, with no options for people who don’t eat meat or have basic dietary restrictions.

The location is the only good thing. The rooms were disappointing, and some stair tiles were broken. Parking only fits three cars. Guests used the pool late into the night, making it hard for people in the rooms to sleep. Breakfast quality and the cleanliness of the utensils were poor. In my room, number 15, I couldn’t leave the bathroom window open because there was a lot of clutter outside, including collections and sheets. The Booking photos look very different from the place. I can’t recommend it right now. It needs a lot of improvement, especially in a tourist city.

We arrived at night as three couples, and all of us had the same complaints. It was raining, and a huge leak at the entrance poured down like an open tap. The place is close to the historic center, but the facilities were in very poor shape. Bathroom seats were cracked and disgusting, taps leaked, wouldn’t shut off, or were broken, and there were no bath mats, soap, or face towels. The pool chairs were broken, and the bedding was old and torn. Breakfast wasn’t served until after 8, so anyone leaving earlier for a drive would miss it. We had to negotiate with an employee for a disposable coffee cup, and she gave it reluctantly. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
