For the price, this hostel is a great fit for budget backpackers in Paraty. I had a great four-night stay. The main drawback is that it isn’t very social, so it’s difficult to find people to join for hikes or other activities in the area. It’s just a couple of minutes’ walk to the historic center, with a grocery store right next door. There’s a lovely balcony overlooking the street, with two cushioned benches and a hammock. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They upgraded me for free and offered to move me when I was alone in a room with an older man. The kitchen has a pretty good supply of pots and pans, with enough room for several people. I visited in June, admittedly the off season, and was alone in my dorm room most of the time. The shower wasn’t hot. That might be fine in summer, but taking a lukewarm or cold shower in winter was rough.
