I went there on Saturday, 27/12/2025, but the gate was closed and the doorbell didn't work. I assume the place was closed, or perhaps the bell had stopped working. Otherwise, maybe they only respond to contact through booking websites.

Kamila was very attentive. The old mansion has a simple, rustic room that's clearly well cared for, and the bed was really comfortable.

The welcome was wonderful, and I had a great stay. A few practical things about suite 2: check that the shower has hot water before getting in. The only mirror is tiny and mounted high, so if you're under 1.60, bring one along. The decor is adorable, though shorter guests might struggle with that mirror, haha. The suite is above the choperia, run by the hostel's owner. There was live music at night and noise from people hanging out by the door. The upside is that the music was really good, rock, pop, jazz and MPB. The decor is creative and beautiful, made with reclaimed materials from demolitions or leftover construction. I said “wow” when I saw it. The wooden ceiling and whole wall give the room a rustic feel, but also make it quite dark, and the lighting isn't bright. I also missed having somewhere to set a suitcase or bag. There isn't a table, stool, bench or chair, so bags have to go on the floor or, if you're alone, on the other bed. These are just observations, not complaints. I recommend it!

The breakfast was simple and welcoming, and Luana, Camila's sister, made us feel at home. She let us use the kitchen and wood stove however we liked, whether to warm bread, water or cheese. We also hope to return and enjoy the rustic pool with Tobias and little Regina. Harpia Hostel was a lovely surprise: a modest, welcoming place with a strong human and historical character. It's the old family mansion of Alessandro's Italian family. He and his partner Camila keep finding ways to care for and make use of this historic property. The rooms and shared areas use reclaimed materials from construction, which gives them a special rustic charm. We definitely recommend staying here.

Last time I stayed here was in 2019, and they've managed to make the place even better. It feels like having a home away from home. Thanks, Kamila, for the flawless service. The Minas Gerais style breakfast was delicious.
