It hasn't had that name for a long time. Now a guy rents out the rooms. There's no breakfast, the service isn't good, and the place is dirty and disorganized.

The reception, kitchen, and cleaning staff were attentive, and that's the only good thing I can say. The room was small and dirty, with a dreadful bathroom: broken floor tiles and shower enclosure, a leaking sink and shower, old bed linen, a bunk bed with an extremely thin mattress, and mold on the ceiling. We had to ask for a floor cloth to deal with the bathroom leak and for toilet paper because there wasn't any. We also asked for hand soap, which they initially refused to give us. Unbelievable. Breakfast was very poor. The same cake was served on both days, there were few eggs, and even the coffee ran short because they only made one pot. I hit my head twice entering reception because the porch roof was so low. The location has potential, being close to Beto Carrero park and right by the beach, but the owner would need to tear down the existing structures, which have asbestos roofing. This was the worst inn I've stayed at, worse even than a hostel with a shared room. It felt like staying at a poor relative's house through a rough patch, except this stay cost a lot. If you're traveling with CVC, be careful, because this is where they put us.

The staff who helped me were all very friendly, and that's the one thing I can't complain about. Everything else felt like a complete deception and a lack of respect for guests. The room was moldy, sealed up, and leaking. There wasn't even a small bathroom window for ventilation, and there was nowhere to put a suitcase. My son and I had to take medicine to ease the symptoms from staying in that moldy room. I was told it would be a simple inn, which was fine by me. I paid 350,00 per night, but what I got was worse than a prison cell, with mold and no proper facilities or hygiene. There was no security either. Reception closes at night, while the doors to the rooms are left open facing the street. On my last night, two young men climbed over the wall in front of my room and entered the hallway. I was terrified and couldn't sleep. Because I booked a package through CVC, I expected them to have at least some standards for partner accommodation. I felt completely misled.

The hardest part was leaving. My family and I had a wonderful four-day stay, and everything we needed was taken care of by the attentive, helpful staff from arrival to departure. Breakfast was delicious, generous, and served at a convenient time. The indoor area was comfortable and cozy, with a play space for children. There was parking, and the pool was great for having fun with the family. The inn is close to everything, including a market, restaurants, a square, an ice cream shop, stores, and the beach. Our room was comfortable, with a pleasant amount of space, a minibar, and air conditioning. It was very clean, as was the bathroom. I loved the experience and absolutely recommend this place. Thank you, Pousada Ilha da Madeira, for giving my family and me such cozy, safe, memorable days. We'll definitely come back.

The staff were the best part of our stay, and we were welcomed really warmly. It's a simple, family-style inn. Breakfast was modest but delicious, despite what some of the other comments below say. The bathroom had a leak, though it didn't bother me.
