The hotel was a little disappointing because our room didn't look like the pictures on booking.com. We expected to stay in the old colonial building, but instead we're in a converted poolhouse. Still, it's a nice, comfortable hotel with all the amenities we needed.

The room I had wasn't the best: it was a standalone unit, quite cold with no heating, and had a strange low window that let in very little natural light. The rooms are spacious, and the shower was very good. Breakfast had a good variety, and parking was convenient. The hotel is in a beautiful historic building, practically wall-to-wall with the Museu Imperial, and very well located for exploring the tourist spots and city. Staff kept a quiet, low profile but were polite, helpful, and efficient. The common areas weren't very cozy, especially in winter, so it felt more like a place to spend the night.

The rooms felt extremely dated, maybe two-star at best, and I was really disappointed. The bed definitely had bed bugs. It was pretty cold in the room, and a leak dripped all night, so that's all I could hear.

We had a lot of fun at the pool, where we met the other guests, and the continental breakfast was the best we've had in Brazil. It's a beautiful colonial building in a historic neighborhood, very clean, with excellent staff.

Great price and location. It's an excellent spot for walkers, and I didn't need a car for most places nearby.
