Pousada Boutique Itaipava

A lovely spot in Itaipava. The Pousada is clean and beautiful, the service is great, and the staff are lovely. The surrounding nature is beautiful, too.

If you've booked only the bistro, don't go. We had made our reservation two weeks ahead for a Sunday and were bringing 8 more people from RJ. Late Saturday afternoon, they canceled, with no ethics, professionalism, or respect for the customer. Their reason was that a family had decided to stay one more night at the last minute, so everyone else loses out, wherever they're coming from and whether they already have a reservation or not. They didn't care about the effort we'd put into organizing the group, our trip, or our booking. There are plenty of other great options, and we won't ever go back to this place.

The suite and grounds were wonderful, and Mateus and the room cleaner were lovely. Suite 1's private heated pool was spectacular, with the water at just the right temperature. We came as a couple for two days and had thought about staying longer, but decided against extending our visit. The restaurant was a real letdown. At breakfast, the coffee pot was empty after we’d eaten fruit. We told the person in charge, who said more coffee would be made, but when I went for pão de queijo, that was out too. Another guest and I mentioned it, and he said another batch would be ordered. Our tapioca took a while and arrived cold and dried out. When I went back for coffee, the pot was empty again, and the person in charge seemed unaware. Lunch was no better: my husband’s tilapia was very dry. We ordered a thin pizza for dinner, as we like it, but it was so dry we couldn’t cut it with a knife. The food service disappointed us a lot. The man who said he was responsible for the restaurant told us the inn and restaurant belong to different people. You can really see the difference. A place like this deserves a better-run restaurant.
