Pouso do Frade

The location is wonderful, but there isn't an on-site parking lot, so sometimes you have to leave the car quite far away. We stayed in an annex across the street from the reception and felt completely cut off. The Wi-Fi didn't work, the TV was out of order, and the furniture was very old. The room smelled strongly of mold, which bothered my son's allergies. There was no phone in the room to call reception across the street, and when we had a problem in the middle of the night, we had no way to contact anyone. I told a staff member about the Wi-Fi; she said she'd speak to management but never got back to me. She was also rude when I asked about these basic things. The double bed was actually two single beds pushed together, and they kept sliding apart, making it very uncomfortable to sleep. Breakfast was decent, with lots of variety, but for the nightly rate the inn leaves a lot to be desired.

Room 17, where I stayed, was tiny for two people. The service was attentive, and the location was very good.

Breakfast was plentiful, with tasty local snacks. The inn is reasonable, and the rooms are simple but have a minibar and air conditioning. Housekeeping cleaned the room, though the towels weren't changed. On New Year's Day, the city had a water outage that affected our room, but the inn acted quickly and moved us to another apartment. Since it's a historic city, there's no parking at the inn and cars are left on the street. When the city is busy, you may have to park far away.
