Heru's Motel

We booked two nights. Maybe this motel was nice when it was built, but the property now needs maintenance and renovation. Our first room, suite 2, the Roman suite, was a terrible experience: it smelled strongly of mildew and the air conditioning didn’t work. We asked to move, and the woman at reception was kind. She called the manager, and we were given a room in better condition, with quiet air conditioning, no mildew smell, and a working whirlpool tub. We have no complaints about the female staff. The breakfast could be better.

The employee said she had seen three of us enter and tried to charge an extra fee when I paid, even though there were only two of us. I found that accusation a nasty lie and a slander. My only regret is not calling the police. They also charged for things like slippers and toothpaste, which are free at every other motel. It left me feeling that the staff are being told to extort customers. I’ll never go back, and I speak against the place whenever I can.

The place itself is great and could be the best in Poços, but the service was unbelievably bad. Staff were rude and treated customers with contempt. The supposed 24-hour kitchen is a farce, and the amounts charged at payment didn’t match. It was the worst experience possible, and the stay felt traumatic. The owner should replace the whole team. Again, stay away from Herus!

The sauna was the only thing that worked properly. The suite smelled bad, and when I asked about it, they said they were painting, but it didn’t smell like paint. The water in both the whirlpool and the pool smelled unpleasant too. Several lights didn’t work, the air conditioner was very noisy, and the shower water wouldn’t get hot. This place has everything it needs to be one of the best, but it feels abandoned. I’m not trying to damage the motel’s reputation. I hope the owners can address some of these issues, especially the smell in the suite and the water.
