Pousada Praia do Sol

I’m posting this warning because I don’t want another family to go through what we did. We stayed there on 28.12.24, and I regret not checking the reviews first. I booked through Booking, where the old photos looked wonderful, but the place we found had a dirty pool, broken chairs beside it, and a barbecue grill that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The kiosk and every area we tried to use looked neglected. I had reserved pousada number 10, but they put us in number 7. It was dusty, poorly ventilated, and so moldy that my allergy made me ill. On the 29th, I ended up in the Santa Casa emergency room. The neighbors told me the former owner had died. From what I saw, the new management isn’t investing in repairs or maintenance, and is putting guests’ health and safety at risk. I complained about the dirty pool when we arrived. Mr. Ailton said we could use it, but he had only skimmed the dirty water with a net, and there was no chlorine. My seven-year-old was disappointed. The same man said we could use the pedal boat, but the area around it and the game room were completely abandoned, with no sign of hygiene or care. At the daily rate, even $100 would be too much, because comfort is tied to safety.

I stayed here four times before, and it used to be wonderful, beautiful, and very clean. Sadly, the old owner passed away and now the place is all neglected. It was such a nice place to stay, what a shame.

The staff were all lovely, and the view of the reservoir is beautiful. But the pousada seems neglected, and I heard management has changed. We paid 240 reais for a couple’s room, including breakfast. The pool was the only attraction available; the pedal boats and other activities couldn’t be used. The game room was unmaintained, with damaged toys. The worst part was finding lots of rats in the pots, containers, and stove when we went to use the kiosk at night. I nearly died! Please get pest control done.

The people working at the pousada were great, always friendly and ready to help, and the breakfast was delicious with plenty of fresh food. Our room was super comfortable and had a great view. I felt right at home. I’d really recommend it if you want to get away from the rush and relax.
