Hilton Porto Alegre

We stayed 31 nights in November/December 2025, our fifth visit to Hilton Porto Alegre, and it was the best hotel in the city for us again. Breakfast had a huge spread, including lots of fresh fruit. Marco and Tanya looked after us wonderfully. After just one morning they remembered what we liked to eat and drink, and stayed friendly, efficient, and professional the whole time. Giovanna was especially warm and always lovely to talk with. Our room was spotless, quiet, and had everything we needed for a comfortable long stay. The gym was modern, spacious, and well equipped, so keeping up our routine was easy. The location in Moinhos de Vento is unbeatable, with Parcão just a block away and plenty of great restaurants, bars, cafés, and shops within a block or two. There's also a direct connection to Shopping Moinhos, so you can shop, eat, get coffee, or see a movie without going outside. We wholeheartedly recommend Hilton Porto Alegre and will stay here whenever we return.

I needed to visit the American Embassy in POA and brought my two dogs along. The Hilton shares a complex with a nice shopping mall, which is very convenient, and dogs are allowed in the mall, a real blessing. There's also a big park 150 meters away for the dogs, running, or other exercise. The free breakfast buffet was the best part, with an amazing selection of delicious food. Marcos, the manager, was kind and professional, and did his best to speak with me in English when my limited Portuguese wasn't enough. The rest of the staff were courteous too. I highly recommend the hotel.

I checked in and found the room small and old-feeling. I asked for a king bed instead of two queens and was told the hotel was fully booked. That wasn't true, since the hotel's own website showed king rooms available at the same price. Another staff member came over, typed around, then said there was a king room with carpet, which looked very old and hadn't been renovated in more than 20 years. We didn't want that room, but I said I'd still rather have a king bed. After they changed the room, it turned out to be a king with no carpet. They'd just lied and tried to put me in the dingy room. The next night I ordered room service at 9.30. The app estimated 30 minutes, but it took an hour. When my 'parsnip soup' arrived, it was like glue, completely inedible after that wait. The girl at reception then was very nice, but the hotel itself isn't great, and neither are the food or some of the front desk staff.

The rooms were excellent, service was on point, and housekeeping came on time and did a good job tidying up while we were out. Early check-in and other special requests can be pricey, though, with early arrival costing almost half a day's charge. Even with that, it's one of the best places to stay in Porto Alegre thanks to its prime spot. Shops and a few places to visit are just a short walk away, and there's a mall right next door for shopping.
