Pousada Vila das Artes

We loved our stay. The inn is simple but really comfortable, and the rooms are good. Breakfast is great, and the beach is just a short walk away. There’s no parking lot, but we parked on the quiet, safe street behind the inn, by the back entrance. The reception and breakfast staff were all very polite.

We liked the inn overall and would stay again, as long as we had a different room. The Wi-Fi, TV, and air conditioning all worked perfectly, and the staff at reception and in the kitchen were friendly. Breakfast was very good, too. The location was another plus, just a few meters from the beach and town center. But our room, number 01, had a lot of mold on the wall and a strong smell. I have respiratory problems and felt unwell on most days. I probably should have asked to change rooms. Cleaning only happened every other day, which felt inadequate after daily beach trips left sand all over the room and bathroom floor. There wasn’t much space to hang clothes, and the room had very little ventilation, so our beachwear took a long time to dry.

Housekeeping needs work. The rooms and shared spaces, including the pool and kitchen, seemed poorly maintained. They cleaned every other day, and during our week there the sheets were never changed, which felt like a basic thing to expect on a longer stay. The location is excellent, less than a block from the beach and a block from town. Reception was friendly, and breakfast had a good variety with staff regularly topping things up.

The inn is quite basic and looks like it may be undergoing maintenance, but the staff were the highlight. Everyone was polite and helpful. The location is excellent, about 50 meters from the beach and 200 meters from Rua das Sombrinhas. My room had peeling paint and unfinished areas. I think they should renovate rooms one at a time and only open them once they’re ready. The shower was poor, with weak pressure and water that swung between scalding and cold. Breakfast was simple but had what you need, and the tapioca was excellent.
