The beach is right there, but the sea along this stretch is dangerous, so I’d stick to the warm pools. There are plenty of pool options and restaurants and snack places, so you can relax without leaving. Restaurant prices are good. If you bring a cooler to drink in the shared area, there’s an 80 reais corkage fee. If you book through a lodging site, go to reception to start the check-in process. They’ll give you a wristband and access to Ancorar’s house rules. Driving to Porto de Galinhas center takes about 5 minutes.

The pools were spacious and clean, without being overcrowded, and had tables, chairs, loungers, and umbrellas. Getting to the beach is easy too, with similar seating and shade just a few steps from the water. The complex is well kept and has a lot to offer. Its shops could be better developed: there’s an ice cream parlor and a small shop with souvenirs and swimsuits. Bottled water for the apartments is sold there, but the shop doesn’t keep set hours. It’s also conveniently close to the main attractions. Highly recommended.

We stayed in Flats 5322 and 5320 at Ancorar Flat Resot Porto de Galinhas, PE. On arrival, we found several things not working: the air conditioning remote wouldn’t change the temperature, the sandwich maker was burnt out, the TV volume couldn’t be adjusted, and there was no Wi-Fi password. Instead, there was a note saying, “please turn off the air conditioning.” At the very least, there should have been instructions posted inside the flat. The Ancorar condo doesn’t help with problems in individual flats. They send you straight to the owner, and that’s when the headache starts. We couldn’t reach the owner through the same channel we’d used to arrange and pay for the stay. Things seemed fine up to that point, then they disappeared and didn’t respond. We only managed to raise the issues in person, and get the basic problems fixed so we could stay until the end. When people arrive tired from far away, they expect at least the basics so they can enjoy the place. The flat was worn down throughout and clearly hadn’t had regular maintenance. When booking, ask as much as you can so you’re not disappointed once you arrive in person, though something can still go wrong.

Getting a parasol meant waking up early, which is unbelievable for such a large resort. They only put out 15 umbrellas and keep the rest stored away. When I asked the maintenance staff about them, they answered rudely. Tourists aren’t treated well here.
