The apartment was filthy, and at this price, I wouldn’t say it was worth even 50. It was very poor quality. It took us almost an hour to find a street leading to the apartment because everything was closed or under construction, and the street itself was in bad condition. The area felt very strange, and as foreigners we didn’t feel comfortable at all. The beds and apartment weren’t clean, the bathroom had mold and hair, there were lots of bugs and mosquitoes, and we also had the feeling there might be bedbugs. The most disgusting place ever.

We’d stayed a few times at Solar Teixeira, specifically in the second floor apartment overlooking the river, and had a really good experience there. This time we were in one of the “new” flats, and it was very disappointing. The balcony and bed were sandy when we arrived, and the furniture was already quite worn. The dish rack was filthy, there was a used sponge, the bin was broken, and the hammock was torn. I tried lying in the hammock anyway, since it was there to be used. I saw some torn parts but thought it might still hold. When I sat down, I fell through it. I told the owner and asked for a replacement. She just said, “I’ll check whether we have one available.” I’m still waiting for that hammock. I won’t be back; I didn’t like the experience.
