The place is right by Guaratiba beach, the cleaning was good, and the hosts were helpful. They let us check in early and didn't charge extra for the additional child. Still, there are several things that need maintenance, and we didn't have a good stay. The pool felt dangerous, with broken tiles and sharp edges in the children's area. I told the owner, and I'd seen other complaints about the same issue. The double bed was awful. The shower was very poor because the water comes from a well, and over New Year's we had a power outage. The electricity never stabilized, so the air conditioning only worked for the first two nights of our five-day stay. The middle bathroom flooded whenever we showered, and the kitchen utensils were poor. The kitchen cupboards smelled moldy. There was no laundry tub. If you're staying more than three days, you'll need somewhere to wash clothes, and drying beachwear on the balcony took ages despite the heat. We also left a ring in the bathroom, but it couldn't be found afterward. These are meant as constructive comments. The property could make for a wonderful stay if they keep up with maintenance, since people travel to be comfortable and get some rest.
