Casa Recife Pousada

The reception staff were attentive, but everything else was awful. The price they told us when we arrived was different from the advertised one. The bathroom was shared and out in the corridor, and the room had mosquitoes. The AC made an incredibly loud noise.

It's quiet, with a well-equipped kitchen, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The AC worked perfectly. Still, the room needs maintenance, and the cleaning could be better. There could also be more bathrooms, even just half baths. The place does what it's meant to, so it's okay for a little rest, but no more than that. It's better than waiting at the airport, and you can shower and use the clothesline. Bring mosquito repellent, since there are mosquitoes, even inside the room. Walking around the area after dark feels dangerous, so I'd suggest using a ride-hailing car. Visit Parque Dona Lindu, then grab coconut water from the kiosks at Praia de Boa Viagem, feeling the sea breeze and listening to “La Belle de Jour” on your headphones.

My stay at Casa Recife was disappointing. The room had a strong, unpleasant smell, and the sheet was dirty. The bathroom trash was overflowing, and there was no toilet paper. The employee who was supposed to be helping guests was sitting on the sofa using her phone. They need to improve hygiene and organization urgently. An air freshener might help.

The attendant was very attentive, and the shared bathroom was clean when I used it. The guesthouse is very close to Recife Airport and the car rental agencies. It's very basic, but it did what I needed: a shower to wash off the salt and a place to repack before my flight. It could work for a no-frills day use stay. My room was extremely small, had no window, and only a fan. There are few places to park on the street. The bathroom isn't pretty, and the water was cold. I couldn't get the heating system to work, if there even was one. 😅
