HY Beach Flats

We were sent to a second property owned by the hotel when we checked in, something that hadn’t been made clear when we booked. It wasn’t as nice as the first property, and the room we eventually got was still dirty from the previous guests, with used towels and blankets and dirty dishes. When we asked for another room, reception seemed lost. Some staff were kind, but others were rude, and the way they spoke to us felt condescending about our Portuguese. We’d paid to use the pool, but reception refused to give us towels for it. They made a comment about soliciting and said we needed approval to use a towel there. At 6am the next morning, a horrible alarm went off on our floor for over five minutes. It eventually stopped on its own, and hotel staff never addressed it. The replacement room was decent and had a nice view, but the rest of the experience felt so unprofessional that I’d never recommend this hotel.

Construction started at 8am and woke people up. I’d slept only three hours, and management didn’t seem to care. The pool and spa were shut, with no warning, even though we paid the same price. Around the gym, everything looked ugly, dusty, and demolished. I spent two hours waiting to speak to the manager. She was awful and didn’t care about what was happening. There was a line of guests complaining at 8am, and the phone lines were jammed with calls from other guests. The work is going to continue. I’m exhausted from the lack of sleep and the extremely rude staff. It looks great, but I paid a lot and got no sleep. Read the reviews and choose another hotel. I do not recommend staying here.

The room AC stayed stuck on hot all night because its controller was missing. The pool and common areas were closed as well, which is a shame for such a big hotel. Breakfast was just as bad. They served two raw tapiocas, and after I sent the first back, the coffee was pungent and old. There were no sausages or cappuccinos on the menu, no glasses for juice, and the drinks had been watered down. A completely shameful experience. This place is garbage and not worth the capital.

The view was the only good thing, and the hotel is close to the beach. We booked expecting to use the gym, sauna, spa, and pool, but after checking in my cousin and I were told there was no water in the pool, the gym was unavailable, and only the sauna was open. They could have told us on WhatsApp while we were booking. The sauna was tiny and dirty, so we didn’t use it. We asked for a refund or at least a free breakfast, since breakfast wasn’t included, but they said they’d get back to us before 11pm and didn’t. When I asked the next morning, they finally said no. Definitely not coming back.
