The breakfast alone might bring me back. There were loads of choices, including made-to-order tapiocas, sweet breads, fresh juices, and coffee. It was probably the best part of my hotel stay. The beach is lovely, and the calcadao (boardwalk) has plenty of room to run or bike, plus little workout stations. The location was excellent, though being right next to a slum/favela worried me at first. I didn’t find it had a major impact on anything. The rooms didn’t look like the pictures and weren’t very clean. The bedspreads were stained, and there was hair in the bathroom. When I was leaving, I needed directions to the bus station for my ticket, which listed the “Boa Viagem” ponto de embarque. I couldn’t find that stop on Google Maps, or by searching for bus stations/pontos de embarque onibus in Recife. I showed the ticket and departure point to the staff, and they told me to go to TIP, the main station. When I said I thought that might be wrong and asked them to check, they refused and seemed annoyed. I’d hoped the staff would know the major bus pickup points around town.
