Hostel Resende

A terrible night, and one I never want to repeat. The room was filthy, dusty, and full of mold, including the wooden parts. They didn’t change the bedding or even wipe the floor. I’m not asking for luxury, just basic cleanliness. I’ve stayed in plenty of hostels and none were this bad. There was nobody to greet us when we arrived. Then at 7 a.m. the owner called to demand payment, saying it was standard procedure at check-in. How was that supposed to happen when nobody was there? The service was sarcastic and insolent. When I complained, they replied, “just don’t come back.” They clearly care about getting the money, not providing even a decent basic service. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.

We paid for 10 people for three days, but only eight of us stayed, and we didn’t ask for a refund. At the end, we left everything clean. Then the owner, sounding upset on the phone, accused us of stealing two sheets worth R$15. We searched all the bags, but there were no sheets. I told her a supervisor would come by to show that one of the beds had two sheets on it. She shouted that if he came, she’d cause trouble for him. Even with the threats and harsh treatment, he came and was polite. The bed linens we received were dirty, and a family was already arriving to use them after our three days without any cleaning. The owner was malicious and very rude. She also uses the nearby location to intimidate people. It was awful, and I wouldn’t recommend it to any decent family.

I felt extremely uncomfortable arriving alone at night in an unfamiliar city to find the place deserted. There was no one there, not even another guest. Everything was open, including the outside gate, and it looked abandoned. Luckily, the taxi driver knew the place and didn’t leave me by myself. There was no basic welcome at all. Management asks for 50% by Pix to make a reservation. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, especially if you’re a woman.

There was hair on the beds, but when I asked Marcele to change the sheets, she said they were already clean. The place smelled strongly of cigarettes, the blankets and pillows smelled bad too, and the person in charge never showed up, sending a neighbor to receive us instead. The photos don’t match the place. It looks neglected. I wouldn’t recommend it.
