Casa da Carmen e do Fernando

The view is great, and the vibe is relaxed. I spent three months at Carmen and Fernando's place, and after more than ten years in hospitality, I was honestly speechless at how well they looked after me. They’re very knowledgeable about the city and happy to invite you along to fun activities. They paid attention to my needs, and in my experience nothing was a problem. If you expect someone to wait on you constantly, or don’t want to walk up and down the hill, this may not be the place for you. Hope you enjoy it too.

Carmen made us feel at home from the start. We arrived very early on our bus, and she still took time to share lots of useful advice about what to do, where to go, and which routes to use. She was available throughout our stay, in person and on WhatsApp. The house is colorful and gorgeous, full of lovely little details, with an artistic feel from her husband, who was a painter. We loved the residential neighborhood of Santa Teresa, its murals and graffiti, and the elevated views over the city. There’s a terrace overlooking Rio Bay, and the pool was wonderfully refreshing after a hot day out. The kitchen and veranda are well equipped, and we often cooked and ate on the terrace. Our room and bathroom were excellent, and laundry service was available too. It’s a real gem for the quality and price. We wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you for everything! 🫶🙏

A lovely, clean, well-organized inn and hostel, with a great view of Guanabara Bay. Carmen and Fernando are very attentive, and the house has a pool, kitchen, comfortable rooms, laundry service, and WiFi. There are also little monkeys around, and they may come interact with residents if you leave some fruit by the window or on the terrace.
