Copacabana Hostel

The location was good, and the receptionist, Evilin, did everything she could to help us. Those were the only positives. What we saw in the room didn’t match the listing on booking.com. There was trash just outside the window, which brought mosquitoes and flies inside, and that window wouldn’t shut all the way. The other window had a noisy airco, while the bathroom window opened onto the hostel corridor, so there wasn’t really another way to get fresh air. The room and beds were dirty, and the beds were so uncomfortable I slept on the floor. We had booked five nights but left after two because staying there was unbearable.

We were upgraded at check-in to an apartment they own nearby, which gave us much more space and privacy. The location was great too, with everything within walking distance. The staff were really nice. When we asked for the Wi-Fi password, the man in charge even gave us his personal number in case we needed anything.

The location is amazing, and the room was comfortable with A/C. It was my first time managing to sleep in a hostel. Vinicius at reception was kind and kept checking whether I needed anything.

I only booked one night at first, then extended my stay. The place felt like home, mostly because the owner was so friendly, along with Maria, Venicius, and another staff member whose name I can’t remember. They were all helpful and welcoming, and the hostel was cleaned really well. Whenever I came back, they greeted me with a smile, and the room was clean and smelled nice. I really enjoyed staying here. The good AC was a big plus, since Rio de Janeiro can be very hot even at night. I’m grateful they have it. I’d definitely recommend this hostel.
