The place was kept clean every day, and for a hot shower, the one by the kitchen worked best. The staff were kind and easy to talk to: supervisor Thiago and volunteer Lindsay were incredibly friendly and fun, and they spoke English. Victoria and Lindsey spoke Spanish and were very helpful too. There were plenty of language options, so communication was easy. I’d come back.

Getting around from Bella Ciao Hostel was easy, with the metro and buses nearby, plus bars just a minute away and a supermarket close by. The neighborhood felt safe. Inside, I had comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen with plenty of room to cook and store food, and friendly staff. I really enjoyed staying there.

There was a cement smell, and the place felt like it was still under construction or renovation. There was no hot water, either. The head of the hotel was friendly at first, then pressured me to leave good Google reviews. I asked to store my luggage for a few hours after checkout, but there was no space. After I posted a one-star review on booking, he messaged me and then reported me or something.

Tiago was especially warm and kind, and the other staff were helpful and welcoming too. It’s a really nice place, and I’ll definitely come back when I’m in Rio again.
