That birthday card and cake were such a lovely touch. The staff were great, especially the two guys on the night shift who joked around with me. One kept reminding me the gym was open, which made me laugh. The breakfast spread had plenty to choose from, including hot and cold food, pastries, fruit and yogurt. I tried the restaurant a couple of times and wasn’t keen on the food, though my colleagues thought it was fine, so it may just depend on your taste. I’ve stayed at Radissons in Brazil, Norway and Thailand, and this one was dependable too. My queen room felt a little small, but I wasn’t in it much. It had a minibar and a safe. There’s a pool, gym, restaurant and function room, so the amenities are all there. It’s well away from central Rio: an Uber to Copacabana can cost close to 100 reals at some times of day. That makes it less handy for sightseeing, though it could suit you if you want quiet nights.

I was trying to rest before a long flight the next day, but staff kept banging on my door. When I didn’t answer quickly enough, they let themselves in with a master key just to tell me when my driver would arrive. I already knew the time. They kept calling the room phone too, until I had to unplug it. Completely disrespectful and unprofessional.

Getting around from the Barra da Tijuca location was easy, and breakfast had a good range of fresh, tasty choices. My room was comfortable, clean and well cared for. It was an enjoyable, easy stay, and I’d happily come back.

Everton was friendly and helpful when we checked in, and Aline was just as good when we had a question. The Radisson was close to the beach and public transport, and we had a fantastic stay. Everything felt perfect.

The only good part was leaving. What a disappointment. Both my room and my family’s room smelled of cigarettes. There was a huge yellow mark on my bed, which was embarrassing, and the blankets were dirty and had hair on them. Service was slow and terrible, with no professionalism. Not what I expected from a four-star hotel.
