Rio Rockers Hostel

Just around three blocks from Copacabana beach, so the location is perfect. The accommodations felt a little neglected, though.

I really wish I could go back and choose somewhere else. The sheet I was given was torn and smelled musty, and the bathrooms badly need attention. On two of my six days there, I had no air conditioning while trying to sleep. I asked at reception and was told it only gets turned on at 10 p.m. That might have been fine, but at 11 p.m. it still wasn't working in my room. I went downstairs, was told it was on, and explained the problem, but the receptionist that night stayed lying on the reception sofa and didn't seem to care or show any empathy. If you're staying upstairs, you have to go all the way downstairs with your towel to shower, then come back up. Breakfast was poor too: bread, a store-bought cake that was almost always orange, powdered juice, and fruit. For what they charge compared with other hostels in Copacabana, it just isn't worth it. I'd already paid for all six nights, but I ended up sleeping at Che Lagarto for one of them, and wished I'd gone there sooner. In general, everything there was better, including the price. I wouldn't recommend this place. If you decide to give it a try anyway, good luck. Only a few of the receptionists were any good.
