Royalty Rio Hotel

The hotel is dated, old, and not very clean, and the staff were uncaring and unhelpful. Worse, staff went through my belongings in the room and stole from me. When I reported it at the front desk, they didn't seem to care and offered no help. The location near Copacabana Beach is okay, but I strongly advise staying somewhere else and keeping well away from this hotel.

The rooms are spacious and the location is decent, with plenty of restaurants and supermarkets around. But housekeeping barely cleans, the walls are so thin you hear people walking past, moving things, flushing toilets, and showering, and there's mould on the bathroom ceiling and in the shower. The place needs a lot of maintenance. The bald older man at reception offered poor customer service and wasn't willing to help. Unless it's really, really cheap, I wouldn't stay here. There are so many other hotels and hostels to choose from.

There's water damage on the floors and furniture, as if the sprinkler system had gone off, and mould on the walls. Half the lights and outlets don't work. Sound insulation is poor, and the elevators are very loud. Not a nice place to stay.

A pretty ordinary hotel with helpful staff. The breakfast could be better, and the rooms need repainting. The location is fine if you're planning to spend your days only in Copacabana.
