The views over Rio are incredible, and for me the hotel was worth every penny. Staying here feels like being in a large private villa, surrounded by lovely grounds. There’s a huge pool with big sunbeds, looking out toward Sugarloaf mountain on one side and Cristo Redentor on the other. The staff were all so friendly and wonderful. We don’t normally eat at our hotel, but the food here was too good to pass up. Breakfast was amazing too, a great start to the day.

The harbor view from here is hard to beat anywhere in the city, and breakfast on the property makes a perfect slow start to the day. We only stayed one night, which felt far too short. The room was thoughtfully put together, comfortable when we were tired, and unusually quiet for Rio. Our flight was late, so we arrived around midnight expecting a routine check-in. Instead, the manager met us at the door and showed us around, making the late arrival feel welcome. Even the drive up the hill was memorable, winding along a dim, jungle-lit path with lights tucked into the foliage as the city seemed to disappear behind us. Vila Santa Teresa made a great impression as our one-night stop in Rio. I’d recommend it to couples after a romantic, design-focused boutique stay, or anyone wanting a little distance from the tourist crowds while still having access to the city. We’ll return and stay longer.

The hillside setting is a little removed from everything, which can be a drawback, but it comes with stunning views. Vila Santa Teresa sits on a huge estate, and the view is easily one of the best an accommodation in Rio de Janeiro could offer. With only a few rooms, it feels cozy in a way a big hotel can’t match. The villa is tastefully decorated, and the service was wonderful. Everyone was friendly and helpful from check-in through check-out. The restaurant served delicious food and, although it welcomes people who aren’t staying at the villa too, it never felt overcrowded. I’d definitely recommend it to someone visiting Rio, perhaps for a few days at the start or end of their time in Rio de Janeiro.

I hope the owners take a closer look at how they handle customer inquiries, because the communication was disappointing. I contacted the property directly on WhatsApp a few days ago about a Rio de Janeiro stay for Carnival in February 2027. Replies came very irregularly, with long gaps between messages, though after several days I did get answers to all my questions. I then asked for a payment link and heard nothing, even after following up more than once. Five days later, the property apologized and said they weren’t ready with an offer for next year, despite already having sent me the terms and conditions. I also noticed that the room I’d chosen had become unavailable on the property’s website. If the offer wasn’t ready, I would have expected them to tell me promptly. And if it wasn’t ready, it’s unclear why those dates had been blocked for that room. Given the property’s price and quality, I expected a basic level of professionalism in customer contact.

The five-course full moon dinner at Beatriz Restaurant was one of the best meals we had on our trip. The portions were closer to à la carte sizes, so there was plenty of food. The place is beautiful and intimate, with a homely feel and a priceless view. The staff were attentive and kind. When they noticed we were cold, they brought us a warm blanket. Getting there was a little complicated, so they also helped arrange a taxi driver for our return to our accommodation in Zona Sul.
