The stay was comfortable, and the hotel is pleasant and centrally located. Still, some policies and procedures felt outside international standards and were annoying. Any short-term visitor triggers a R$150 charge, even if they only stay a few minutes and don't spend the night. That wasn't clearly explained beforehand. The bureaucracy is also quite heavy: my check-in, with no special requirements, took around 15 minutes, and check-out took another 10. At check-in, they also charge a R$750 security deposit for possible damages or consumptions, which guests then have to track for reimbursement. It's part of the hotel's policy, but it adds hassle. It's a good hotel, but they charge you whatever is humanly possible. Clearer communication about fees and more efficient procedures would make the guest experience much better.

We booked two nights online, but I couldn't even spend two peaceful hours there because of the service and attitude. They damaged my door, then kept me waiting over two hours while it was repaired. While I waited, I asked for a bottle of water and was charged for it. Although the booking was for two people, they also insisted we pay extra fees. I speak Portuguese, and reception and security didn't realize it. I heard them discussing how to get more money from me. This was a terrible disappointment and a really bad experience with hospitality. I'd tell people to stay away and look at other options. I'm preparing information to take this to a global court.

This felt like a prison, not a hotel. Guests were banned, even though one guest had paid for the right to have visitors. It took his attorney arguing the point for him to get that right. We came for carnival and had a great time here. The rooms were good, breakfast was nice, and the waiters at the rooftop bar on the 22nd floor were absolutely top-notch. A top hotel in central Rio!
