Hotel Ondas Do Mar

We booked three days but left after the second because staying there felt untenable. The location is good, but it doesn’t make up for the problems. There’s an open dump in front of the hotel, along with a property where more than ten cats are kept. They roam freely and can get into the hotel and pool area. The pool was in completely unacceptable condition, with cat feces floating in it. Breakfast was disappointing, with little variety and poor quality. When we asked for hot water for tea because there wasn’t any at the buffet, we saw it being taken straight from the tap without a filter. The tea had a strong iron taste, which left us very unsure about the water being served. The water in the room was dark, suggesting plumbing or sanitation problems. The air conditioners looked badly installed, as if they might fall, and were both uncomfortable and concerning. The beds were so uncomfortable they made it hard to rest. I consider the place a health risk. I don’t recommend it and wouldn’t return.

I thought people were exaggerating when they complained about the pool hygiene, until I saw feces floating in the water myself. I spoke with reception and took the staff to see it, but nothing was done, not even adding chlorine or cleaning the pool. The shower water was dark and smelled strongly of iron, too. The city lacks basic sanitation, so the area in front of the hotel was full of garbage, sewage, and construction debris. It wasn’t a pleasant place, and the stay was awful. I spent 1,000 reais for nothing and left early because the conditions felt unhealthy. I don’t recommend it.

The service was excellent and everything else was very good. The air conditioning could have been better.

The price felt steep, even out of season. There’s no hot water, and breakfast was below what I expected.
