The location and the hotel's safety were what worked for us, which is a shame because the place has a lot of potential. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the reception felt nice and welcoming. But the rooms are worn and need renovation. Our bedding and towels were dirty when we arrived, so they had to be changed; the bathroom was small and not very clean. Breakfast was pretty rubbish, with bread but no toaster, and we weren't allowed to take coffee out. The hotel needs to invest in updating the rooms.

Jossey and Carlos at reception were really nice to us. João was lovely too, and he spoke Spanish fluently.

The doorman was so polite and knew a lot. He deserves five stars and should be the hotel's concierge. That's the only reason I give this place two stars. My room was small and dingy, with dirty windows, and the hallways smelled like a bathroom. The photos show the bathroom and shower in the room, so good luck guessing whether you'll get what's advertised.

The area felt safe and the hotel was well located. My room was comfortable, cleaned nicely every day, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. One elevator was out of order while I was there, which meant longer waits than expected.
