Bahia Pelô Hostel

There’s no drinking fountain, and I didn’t feel safe with the pizzeria downstairs leaving its door open until closing. The receptionist stays across the street at the hotel with the same name. The hostel worker also sleeps there, and made more noise than everyone else in the middle of the night. I stayed in January in a mixed room. I wouldn’t have chosen that if I’d known, even if people treat it as normal. I’m obese and had trouble with the bed, but could only switch to the first one because that guest was leaving. The hostel showed zero empathy. What shocked me most was that they choose your bed for you.

The hostel is in a good spot in a touristy, safe area, but the noise nearby kept us up until around 2 a.m. on both nights. We barely slept the first night. The hostel isn’t responsible for those events, but it’s something to know. We’d hoped to book a private room, but none was available, so we took a shared one. The bathroom was filthy, with a grimy shower door and mold on the ceiling. The bins looked like they hadn’t been emptied for days, even though the room was empty and they were full. We asked for cleaning, and all they did was remove hair from the shower drain. Pretty ridiculous. Cleanliness matters for a stay, and that wasn’t our experience.

I arrived feeling sick and they looked after me with so much warmth and affection. They really made me feel at home. The rooms are great, and the location is PERFECT. There’s also a very good, cozy pizzeria downstairs. If I come back to Salvador, I’ll stay here again without hesitation. Thank you so much!!!!!! ✨

The room was spacious, clean, well kept, and nice, and the staff were friendly and polite. It’s well located if you want to stay near Pelourinho. Everything else was fine too, including the lighting, access, air conditioning, security, bathroom, decor, and kitchen. Parking nearby is difficult, especially if you have a car, and getting around is more complicated for accessibility. One suggestion: some information for guests about things to do in the area would be useful.
