We left the hotel today. Honestly, it’s more like a hostel. The air conditioning in our reserved room didn’t work, and construction next door was so loud it seemed to be happening inside the room. We asked to switch, but the only room available had a queen bed, so my husband, my 13-year-old son, and I all had to share it. And it got worse. We were in Salvador to celebrate a close friend’s birthday, and she was meant to stay at the same hotel so we could all be together. She arrived in a huge downpour only to find her room had been given to us, leaving her with nowhere to stay. Still in shock, she said it was her birthday, and the owner, Cristiane, replied, “You won’t spend it here!” My friend managed to stay with friends, but the owner did nothing to help, not even calling an Uber to get her there. We had no other option, so we stayed. The next morning we found out breakfast wasn’t included and cost 37 reais per person. Cristiane didn’t offer anything complimentary, so we just kept putting up with one absurd thing after another. There was no face towel or bath mat. On Sunday night into Monday, one of the bars played extremely loud music until 4 a.m., then started up again at 7. To top it off, there was no hot water for a shower on our last night. It was a nightmare. Stay away, and don’t let anyone book a stay there!

The area felt safe and lively, with lots of restaurants nearby and Pelourinho close too. The hotel is right across from Praia do Porto da Barra, and the location is excellent. The rooms are very small, but the service was wonderful. We accidentally left some things behind, and when we came back from our vacation in Morro de São Paulo, the staff returned everything. They were very kind. We had to leave early, before the usual breakfast service, and they made breakfast for us anyway.

The service was impeccable, and all the staff were great, especially Mariana, who welcomed us and really won us over. Across the street is the wonderful Barra beach, with good restaurants right next door. It’s also easy to get to Pelourinho, Mercado Modelo, Elevador Lacerda, the international airport, Farol, and the museum at Forte. I recommend it!

There’s a lovely terrace with a beautiful view, right in front of the sea. Don’t miss seeing the moon from up there. The location is perfect, with a market, restaurants, little shops, and a bus stop all around. The rooms are great too.

Hey, why is there a statue on the hotel’s top floor? I spent the day at the beach trying to figure out whether it was a person or a statue.
