The pool was pleasant, and the pool staff were friendly and attentive, though they kept asking for good TripAdvisor reviews, probably because management wanted them to. That was about all I liked. The best part of our three days was checking out. The rooms felt old and musty, the plumbing didn’t work, and the food was inedible. Management seemed to have nothing but contempt for guests, and never even bothered responding to reviews. I really wanted to like this resort, but it was horrible. I’m also skeptical of the five-star reviews, since most are years old, and I don’t believe many of the local guide reviews. I’m pretty sure those reviewers get kickbacks from the hotel for praising this travesty. We had to leave the resort for every meal. Pelourinho had excellent food, and the other hotels we stayed in, in Fortaleza and Rio, were very good. Fried fish shouldn’t taste and feel like shoe leather full of bones, and moqueca shouldn’t taste like mud with chewy frozen shrimp. I’ve had amazing moquecas outside the resort. Management, wake up. These bad reviews are your fault. Update the hotel and serve decent food.

I only ended up here because my flight was cancelled, and had to stay a day. From outside, there was no welcoming appearance at the entrance or on the street. It felt quite dodgy. The room finally came after an awful, very slow check-in with lots of manual steps. That was hard after travelers and families had already spent the night waiting in other lines. The staff were around the restaurant and helpful, but there were no smiles or warm welcome. Maybe it’s tough when 200 people arrive at once, but it’s still a resort. The bathroom looked like it had been used for a century, and the beds and furniture were outdated. The shower might have been clean. The AC was basically a fan and didn’t work. Food was acceptable given there weren’t other options. I’m skeptical about the kitchen’s cleanliness when food is made to order. Maybe it’s just old and outdated, but a resort should invest in its interiors. I wouldn’t choose this place for a few days’ holiday, to my disappointment. I hope this and other Brazilian establishments start investing in themselves to offer better quality. The beaches are right in front, so why not?

Breakfast was okay, maybe a 7/10. The bathroom was moldy, the mini fridge rusty, and the shower water wasn’t hot about half the time. There’s no soundproofing at all, so you hear everyone talking, people walking overhead, an Indian Peafowl and roosters from 5/6 am, and planes passing by. All at once, and you get woken up.

The food was expensive and not great. After waiting 50 minutes for it, it arrived cold. I had to walk over to the waiter every time I wanted to order something or ask for anything. The place is unbelievably old, and the bed and mattress were uncomfortable and old too. There wasn’t an English menu for my Australian partner. I absolutely don’t recommend it, and I’ll never be back.

I’m writing this on day three, with another seven days left, and I just want to leave early. The ocean view is great, and that’s why I’m giving two stars. The furniture looks like it’s from the 80s, the walls are dirty and stained, and the AC doesn’t work. Between the heat and humidity, sleeping is impossible. The wifi is a dream: it only works at certain tables in the restaurant, and even there it’s inconsistent. They clean the pool with some metal-based solution, and today it turned my skin and my son’s green. There’s no English spoken except by one person at reception, who of course won’t be there every day. Ordering even basic food or drinks takes at least 30 minutes.
