The owner was incredibly kind, and breakfast each day was amazing. Our private room was beautiful too. I’d recommend this place without hesitation.

Rio Vermelho turned out to be a superb place to stay, just as my friend had suggested. The hotel’s location couldn’t be better, and the ocean view room is worth spending a little extra on. Mine had a private balcony with what might be the best view in Salvador. The owner is a fantastic man, happy to chat and share local knowledge and advice. He speaks English, French, Portuguese and, I think, German. The staff were really helpful, and breakfast was fantastic.

The dorms aren't worth the price. There's no window, the lighting is poor, and opening the door to get fresh air from the hallway makes the AC stop automatically. The private rooms are really nice, though, and breakfast and the employees were nice too. The hostel was quiet when I stayed, just a volunteer and me.

I've already booked an apartment for my next stay in October. The apartments are very nice, well equipped and have a sea view, in one of the best spots in Rio Vermelho. The owner and staff are very friendly.
