Villa Romana

The location is really good, near the beach, shopping and other places, and my husband and I did like our stay apart from the hotel itself. The people were polite and attentive, and reception was very good. But the hotel needs renovating, and the rooms need improvement too. In the room I had, the shower gave me an electric shock. The owner should get it fixed to make things better for tourists.

Great deal, very cheap. I paid 88 per night, compared with 120 elsewhere and 100 for a hostel. Breakfast was included, and we stayed from the 29th to September 5. There's a pool and the Wi-Fi was super fast, so I downloaded lots of games and movies. It's in Barra, the best area to stay in Salvador, close to Barra beach and other options.

I chose to pay by debit card. When I went to use the machine, the employee took the card out of my hands. I asked if he always did that to customers. He put the card in the machine and it showed an error, then he tried another machine and got the same error. I got suspicious and checked my statement. I'd been charged twice, and it was difficult to get the money refunded.

Loved it. The area is privileged, close to the beach and promenade, and several of the most famous sights are right there. It's easy to get to the center and elsewhere, with plenty of bars, restaurants and banks nearby. Great location.
