Alter Caju Hostel

Kelly is a wonderful host, and the place feels like home. For the price, it’s a great deal. The rooms have comfortable beds, air conditioning, a private bathroom, a dresser and hanging space for clothes, plus drawers in the bunks. There are two bunk beds in each room. The shared kitchen gets plenty of air, and the yard has trees and pets 🐱🐶. There’s no hot shower, but in Alter’s muggy heat, a hot one is probably the last thing you’ll want. It’s right by Praça do Çaire and Hotel Terra Nativa, where you can get breakfast separately for R$40. The Alter do Chão bus terminal is close too, and you can walk to the town center without trouble. Next door, Churrasquinho da Barezinha serves tasty food from Wednesday to Saturday, with skewers for R$10 and dinner plates for R$15 or R$20.

The location made getting around easy, about five minutes from the bus terminal, ten from the center shops, and twenty from Ilha do Amor. I stayed in a shared room with three other women. It was comfortable, with a private bathroom, air conditioning, and clean sheets and towels. The service was impeccable, and breakfast was delicious, especially the fruit juices made from freshly picked fruit. Everything was perfect, highly recommend ❤️

Sílvia loves a good chat, and there’s always fresh coffee and someone to talk with, either in the dining room or under the jambeiro. The rooms are clean and smell lovely, with private bathrooms and air conditioning. She even uses regional perfumes around the place and sells them for guests who want to take some home. A calm spot that’s especially nice if you love animals. Great value for a peaceful stay in the village of Alter.

Sílvia is so welcoming, she really makes you feel at home. The place is clean and well located, the price is great, and breakfast is top. I definitely recommend it!
