The breakfast was included and excellent, served in the dining room downstairs. Our room also had a small balcony overlooking the street. We really enjoyed the clean, comfortable room, the easy-to-adjust air conditioning, and the hot water, which we didn’t get in some of the other places we stayed in Santarem. My wife and I are American and don’t speak much Portuguese. We came to Santarem in July 2024 to meet my brother and his wife, who is originally from Santarem. My brother had suggested another hotel, but it was full, so I found this one nearby. It’s a couple of blocks from the riverfront bars and restaurants, about a 3-4 minute walk, and the area seemed safe. Saturday night was a little noisy because a nearby bar played music until the early hours, but we slept well anyway. The reception staff were all friendly and helpful. They spoke little English, but that was never a problem. Waldemar especially went out of his way to look after us.
