Dan Inn São Carlos by Nacional Inn

Nice.

The breakfast was decent, the location worked well for us, and the staff were helpful. Those were the bright spots. We came to São Carlos for a wedding and picked Dan In because it was part of a hotel chain, expecting a consistent standard. That didn’t happen, and I wouldn’t stay there again or recommend it. I only gave it two stars because of those positives. The room and bathroom were very dirty when we arrived. There was hair on the bed, and the floor was dusty and gritty. I asked for it to be cleaned, but they offered to move us instead. The second room was just as bad. Since it was already late and I was tired, I gave up and stayed in the dirty room. Around 11 the next morning, while my girlfriend and I were getting dressed to check out, a housekeeper came in without knocking or permission, and without a sign indicating we wanted service. She apologized and left, but it was still very embarrassing. Booking said parking was included, and that was one reason I chose the hotel. At checkout, they charged me for it. Nobody had mentioned a fee when we arrived, and there wasn’t a sign saying parking cost extra. That was outrageous.

I stopped here for a rest on my way to Olímpia. The place is quiet, the staff are really kind, the rooms are clean, and breakfast and dinner have lots of options. There are plenty of rooms too. Just two things bothered me: the shower needs maintenance because water sprays outside when it’s on, and the elevator is noisy. The door closing at night woke me up, and it jolts in a way that could startle someone using it for the first time. The hotel is small and really nice otherwise. That’s all I have to say.
