Pousada Caminhos da Neve

We were there with a group of 17 for work during winter, when it was around 6 degrees. You had to pay an extra 400 reais for every day you wanted to use the heater. The shower wouldn't get hot unless we kept asking them to turn on the boiler. We bought pizza for dinner, but weren't allowed to eat in the breakfast area and were told the whole group should eat in one room. They were rude and poorly mannered, and my room's towels weren't changed. There's a lot they need to improve.

We decided not to stay after checking in because the room was so cold and uncomfortable that we went out, then realized the night would be miserable. It was freezing even during the day, though there was a heating system in the room. A staff member said they'd only turn it on at night. The blankets were very dirty, and the room looked shabby, with a badly worn bathroom. The place also looked nothing like the internet photos: ugly grounds with trash around, a single-story building with windows that could be reached and opened from outside, and a pool outside the building. It felt like this may once have been a nice inn, but upkeep had slipped. The price wasn't worth it. I couldn't get the inn to cancel the night's charge, and my card company required a cancellation document from the inn. We stayed at Parq Hotel São Joaquim instead, which was great.

Paulo gave us a really warm welcome, showed us the rooms and the other facilities, and we had a spacious room with a private bathroom. Breakfast was good and filling without being excessive, which helps avoid waste. There's a decent sized heated indoor pool in an outdoor area. In wet weather, better paving would help keep the mud down, and the breakfast could be presented a bit better. Still, it's a very good option in São Joaquim.

The room was roomy and clean, and the bedding was quite suitable. The inn doesn't offer much in the way of facilities. Heating isn't switched on very often, and breakfast is modest but good. I needed a snack in the afternoon and there was nothing available, and the cupboards were locked. The receptionist helped as much as he could. It's a traditional inn in town, so it could offer a few more options outside meal times.
