Rancho Pôr Do Sol

Breakfast was a highlight, with plenty of variety served in the restaurant overlooking the mountains. The food was tasty, the atmosphere relaxed, and the view made you stop and breathe. The owner himself welcomed us and looked after everything with kindness and care. He made us feel truly at home. I was there alone with my 2-year-old son, and Rancho Pôr do Sol felt like a peaceful refuge from the start. The road in is unpaved and a little tricky, but it’s close to town. We came in a low car and got there without trouble. The chalets are cozy and quiet, just right for resting. What made the stay special was being surrounded by nature. My son loved picking jabuticabas and acerolas straight from the trees, running across the lawn after the free-roaming chickens, watching the fish by the edge of the pond, and waking up to the maritacas each morning. It became our little ritual. The property is beautiful and well cared for, and it’s close to the region’s main waterfall sights. Coming back to the peaceful setting between outings was a lovely way to recharge. There are pools, a sauna, barbecue areas, hammocks, a restaurant, a mill, cascades, and a pretty stream where we cooled off in the heat. The wifi worked well, with no connection problems. I left feeling lighthearted and sure we’ll be back.

The rooms are cozy and the place is beautiful. The restaurant serves generous portions, so it’s well worth having lunch there.

The access was awful. I don’t think an ordinary car can make it, and I nearly gave up on the way. When I arrived at 14:15, I was told they no longer served meals at that hour, only snacks at night, or I could drive back along the badly potholed road to find food. I turned around right then without even checking in. I can’t recommend it. If you don’t have a 4x4 or at least an SUV, I wouldn’t even try getting there. It’s very far from everything, and the road makes the whole thing much harder.
