Apart Hotel Guanabara

Great.

The location is quiet and central, about three blocks from Parque das Águas de São Lourenço, with woods right across the street. The apartment is huge, with a living room and balcony, a bedroom with another balcony, plus a spacious bathroom and kitchen. The kitchen in my unit had a sink and refrigerator but no stove. Finishes are simple and the equipment basic, with a ceiling fan and a 14-inch tube TV in the bedroom, but the bed was comfortable and the daily rate felt fair for what’s provided. There’s a covered garage, a rooftop pool, and an elevator. Breakfast was very good, with a decent range of choices, about what you’d expect from other hotels.

This hotel feels stuck in the past. There were no outlets by the bed, and the tube TV’s channels didn’t work. My room wasn’t cleaned while I was out working, and the towels aren’t changed every day. Breakfast was a letdown too. There’s no air conditioning, just a dusty fan. Really disappointing.

It’s a comfortable hotel with a good breakfast served on the rooftop beside the pool, which seems great for summer. Parque das Águas de São Lourenço is only a few meters from the entrance. The price is accessible and the accommodations are cozy, so I think this apart hotel is good value. The only downside was the small garage, with few spaces that don’t fit large cars. Our car fit without a problem. If you have a large car and don’t mind, you can park on the street, which is possible since the city is peaceful.
