Diamond Hotéis e flats

The rooftop pool looks out over the mountains, and there’s also a gym, barbecue space, and a great playground for kids. We felt safe both around Diamond Flat and throughout the city. We stayed for three nights and loved it. The flat was airy, spacious, and very clean, with air conditioning in the bedroom and living room and a large, comfortable balcony. Parking was included in the rate. It’s easy to walk to Parque das Águas and the tourist center, with plenty of shops, cafés, and restaurants nearby. Even so, Diamond is in a quieter spot, with lovely views of São Lourenço, Minas Gerais, and a peaceful small-town feel. Breakfast was delicious and well prepared, with lots of fruit, juice, breads, pão de queijo, eggs, and sweets. Check-in was quick. We got information about the building and WiFi, along with suggestions for things to do, including the Rota do Café with Unique Café and the cheese route. We could picture working from there for a month if our budget allowed. Maybe another time. Diamond Flats is modern and convenient, with good access to the main attractions and beautiful views.

The elevator situation was the part I just couldn’t accept. There’s no generator, not even to keep the elevators running. When the power first went out, we were stuck briefly. The next morning, the electricity and elevators were down for the whole morning, and we had to carry our bags down from the 11th floor with my elderly in-laws. The hotel should have a generator, and I think São Lourenço’s authorities should forbid a hotel from operating without one. The room was large and had a kitchenette, but the details were poorly maintained: the chairs for watching TV felt like they were about to come apart when we sat down, and the wall behind the bed was stained. Breakfast was good, and the staff were pleasant.

The flat had what we needed for a comfortable stay: air conditioning, a balcony, a comfortable mattress, a sofa bed in the living room, and parking. There’s a pool with a view, and the building is very well placed for Parque das Águas. We could get everywhere on foot.
