Hotel Sambaquis

We booked through Booking.com, but the photos seemed to show the hotel when it first opened years ago, not what it looks like now. Our first room had mold on the walls, in the bathroom, and on the handles, and the air was unbearable. The towels were already dirty, covered in yellow stains. Although the hotel lists shower products, all we got was two bars of soap and two small shampoo bottles. We asked to move. The second room was barely better, with mold and what looked like mushrooms everywhere, and it was dirty or badly cleaned. The air was unbearable again. They moved us to a third room, which wasn't much better, but we had to accept it because the hotel said a refund wasn't possible. They also said they couldn't give us more towels and would only provide two small ones. The front desk staff just stare, don't speak to you, and are unfriendly. There's no bar despite what the hotel says, and if you buy a drink, bring a card because they can't give change. At the pool, there were no loungers like the photos showed, just regular chairs. Someone cleans the pool, but not every day, and the staff don't use a net to clear out all the flies and mosquitoes floating in the water. Wi-Fi only works properly at reception and in the breakfast room. Breakfast was acceptable, and the cleaning lady was friendly and smiling, unlike the rest of the staff. The location isn't as convenient as it might seem. The hotel is near the beach, but at the far end, so it's a long walk to busier areas with more people and restaurants. To get around, you'd need a car or enough money for a taxi every day.
