They charged me twice when I arrived, and gave me a completely different, higher price than the one I booked. It felt like they were charging a gringo or American rate. Stay away from this place!

The double room was spacious, the beds were comfortable, and everything was well cleaned. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. My only real issue was having nowhere to put my clothes while showering. It wouldn't bother me on my own, but I was traveling with a coworker, which made it a bit awkward. Still, it's a nice hotel.

The location is amazing and the staff were great, and it's a decent hotel. I don't buy the web articles calling it the second-best hotel in São Luís, though. We had several problems: every outlet in our room was 220v except the one used by the TV, so we couldn't use the others. The bathroom flush button leaked, and the building's exterior blocked the sea view from our window. On New Year's Day, we were leaving early for a tour when a car parked behind ours blocked us in. The hotel doesn't check whether cars in the parking lot belong to guests. Luckily, the owner turned up in time to move it so we could leave.

I spent one night here while waiting for my flight to Sao Paulo. It was a good hotel, and the beach is only a two-minute walk away.
