Casa do riacho

I loved this little paradise, full of beautiful plants and fruit trees. The rooms were clean and cozy, and breakfast was wonderful. The polite staff offered different breads, tapiocas, couscous, eggs cooked just the way you like them, and lots of fresh, tasty fruit. The coffee was very good too.

We chose this pousada again for a family trip to São Miguel dos Milagres because our stay there three years ago had been so good. Back then, we loved its beachfront location, clean, warm pool, large gardens, cozy deck with an ocean view, good service, nice rooms, and good breakfast. This time, though, we found a huge decline in several areas. The room was deplorable, and the place needs upkeep, care, and cleaning. The “white” sheets and towels were dingy and stained, and two sheets also had holes. We asked for replacements, but the new ones weren’t much better. The outside shower behind the indoor shower stall, which used to be a nice extra, had been shut down. The bathroom smelled bad, the grout was dirty, and because the shower door doesn’t reach the floor, water gets everywhere. There was no rack or other place to hang wet clothes. The room with the two single beds had no mirror or place for suitcases, so we had to open our bags on the bed and leave what we needed on the floor, which was quite dirty too. Breakfast was another shock. There were four of us, but the fruit and sweets brought to the table were only enough for two, and they served exactly four rolls. On the second day we asked for more, but felt uncomfortable doing so, as if that was all we were supposed to get. This breakfast service setup was really bad. We came based on our own earlier experience and recent reviews, most of which don’t reflect the pousada’s current state, especially given the room rates.
