Algarve Hotel

Great.

The breakfast was delicious, and the hotel was very clean and well kept. I felt welcome throughout my stay. The staff were attentive from start to finish and always ready to help make things comfortable. I had an exceptional experience and would definitely stay here again and recommend it.

The only thing that worked well was the hot shower, though water seemed to leak around both sides of the bathroom. The room door wouldn’t close properly; they tried to fix it and said they didn’t know how it happened, then advised me to keep it locked. The wall fan was noisy, and the room smelled musty. The old sheet had a stain that looked like dried blood, and the blanket looked like it could have millions of mites. There wasn’t a sheet to cover up with. The window had no bars, so I had to sleep with it open or suffocate in the stuffy room. A piece of furniture was broken, and the TV was almost at ceiling height and had to be turned on manually, so I had to climb onto the bed to reach it. They said there was Wi-Fi in the corridor, but once I shut the room door, it stopped working. Calling reception was no help. Every question got a “I don’t know, ma’am” or “I have no idea how that happened.” The little boxes in every room, where people presumably hand over the bill, made me think the place had been one of the cheapest motels and then turned into a hotel without removing them. It was close to the LollaPalooza event, but if you’re choosing it to save on transport, bring money to spend on transport instead. I’d much rather stay somewhere farther away and comfortable and pay for the ride. The worst part is having to give it at least one star just to post this.

The shower didn’t work, so my girlfriend and I had to take cold showers. I’d booked a double room through their website, but they first put us in a triple room, then moved us after half an hour. The fan was dirtier than a chicken coop, and only one of the three lights worked. There was no Wi-Fi, and the 14-inch TV only got Globo in black and white. Do I need to say more? It’s not worth even 10 reais a night, and I doubt they’ll improve. The review below was already five months old, and it looks like nothing has been done.
