Hotel Columbia

The staff acted like they owned the place, laying down rules and saying we couldn’t come and go from the hotel even when we just wanted to get something to eat. Worst experience I’ve had. Seriously, avoid this place. I strongly recommend staying away.

The hotel is right in the center and we had a great stay. This was already our third time here.

The room was a mess in several ways. The lock was hard to open and close, the shower drain was clogged, the room and bedding smelled musty, the minibar was noisy, and the elevator echoed into the room. The corridor is narrow and the rooms are right next to each other, so you hear other people talking and making noise. The bathroom windows in the rooms beside mine faced my room too, and I could hear everything they did in there. It was really uncomfortable. After spending the day at a trade fair in SP, I arrived around 7 pm to check in and rest. I got room 105. Around 1:30 am, a group of three or four noisy, inconsiderate people moved into the room next door, turned on a speaker, and started singing and shouting. With walls that seemed to have no soundproofing, it sounded like they were in my room. I went downstairs to complain because there weren’t even phones in the rooms. I asked the receptionist to move me, but she said there were no rooms available. Someone from the hotel went up and asked them to turn off the music, but they kept shouting and laughing until around 3 am. All the stress meant I didn’t sleep at all. I’d planned to go back to the fair in the morning for its second day, since my flight wasn’t until 4 pm, but I felt too exhausted and left for the airport at 11 instead. And breakfast was bad too. There were two kinds of cake, both dry and seeming old. As a customer, I can’t recommend this place.
