Hostel São Paulo Backpackers

The shared spaces were filthy. There were flies everywhere, especially in the kitchen, where there were no plates, the microwave was disgusting, and the bins were overflowing. The lounge was gross, like a university house, and the staff didn’t seem interested in the guests. The rooms were extremely cramped and had no doors. Possibly the worst hostel I’ve stayed in.

The common areas were a bright spot, with plenty of outdoor seating and a TV you could use to stream Netflix. The location was great, and nearby supermarkets plus access to the kitchen helped since breakfast wasn’t served. We arrived as a group of 28 and were worried about the stay. The rooms were tiny, and sleeping 12 people in a 12 m² room wasn’t appealing. The bathrooms were quite dirty too, so I’d recommend wearing flip-flops in the shower. The rooms and bathrooms weren’t clean, but the staff apologized and even gave us a gift when we left to say sorry again. They were also willing to help whenever we needed translation.

I really enjoyed my stay. The staff were very friendly, and the common spaces were pleasant, with a little garden. It’s a cheap place in a fancy, expensive neighborhood. The dorms are very small, and it could use more bathrooms.

The staff were nice, and the location was good. The rooms felt cramped and poorly arranged. With 36 beds and only three single-occupancy restrooms, the waits could be long.
